On macOS, schemes copied out of Word docs originating from Windows fails.

When a colleague using Windows sends me a Word docx containing ChemDraw structures, the structures/schema can't be copied on macOS from the Word doc and pasted into a ChemDraw file. Not even as a graphic. A completely blank document results.
Word (16.55) appears to recognize ChemDraw object (see attached screen capture). But double-click results in error message in Word: "The server application, source file, or item cannot be found..."
Finder (macOS 11.6.1)>Edit>Show Clipboard says clipboard contains "rich text (RTF)" but is blank.
