Certain bond joining arrangements remove the associated bond highlights. This behavior can be seen, for example, in the attached cases. When a highlighted bond is joined to a non-highlighted one, no matter what the selection order, the joined structure will no longer have that bond highlighted. In some other cases the bond highlight is preserved as expected.
We're aware of some odd behavior when joining highlighted bonds. There will be more work on that coming for v21.1
