A suggestion of pre-selected color options

DISCUSSION:

Default choice of colors for each of 3 color Toolbars in a document are:
Colors Toolbar - Black (first tool in Toolbar)
Ring Fill Color Toolbar - None
Highlight Color Toolbar - None

Black, being a default choice in Colors Toolbar, is NOT selected [highlighted] without prior selection of any existing or drawn element in the document. Historically, in ChemDraw you start with adding black elements and, if required, start changing the color AFTER that [or copy-paste for element or a group with desired coloring option].

What if we get that option of pre-defining exact colors for some tools/elements BEFORE starting to draw them in the document? Say, a Red color will be pre-selected for lone-pair in Chemical Symbols Toolbar, or only Hollow (Medium) arrow [from Arrows Toolbar] would be Green, or some orbitals dark blue (VD-BetaV21-0026.png).

There are two scenarios:

Simple:

No changes to the Style Sheet settings. It means, Black is a default color for ALL drawing elements [as it is of now]. Before starting to draw in a new document [Style Sheet of his choice is used] end-user can select any drawing tool and change a color for that tool from default Black to something else:

  • Click any drawing element/tool from any Toolbar, either docked or Floated, and click any color from the Color Toolbar to define a new color for that element/tool FOR THE DURATION OF THAT DOCUMENT CREATION.

If a new document of the same Style Sheet is created all elements/tools will be a default Black color. But a document with previously pre-defined different colors for some elements/tools will retain those choices. There are complications of tools coloring when end-user switches between two different documents with different color settings for some element/tools.

Extended:

Changes to the Style Sheet settings. If for any of the drawing elements/tools default Black color was changed to something else, when you Close that document an option to make the same color changes to the currently used Style Sheet will be offered. It has the following complication. Different color might have been selected for drawing just a few elements/tools, but those changes, being added to Style Sheet settings, will imply non-Black color choice for those element/tools. Should be an option to re-set Style Sheet settings to Default.
